About the Author
John Frederick Bailyn is Professor of Linguistics at Stony Brook University. He is the author of numerous articles and edited volumes on formal Slavic linguistics especially in the areas of case, word order, functional categories, syntactic microvariation and binding.

Just what I was looking for!

I have taken two courses in linguistics - focusing on the English language. Now, I am studying Russian and am interested in the structure of that language, too. It has been a struggle for me to learn Russian; since it is such a different language from English. I am only a little way into this book; but already it is helping understand the structure. And the author has done such a good job, IMHO, that I am able to focus on "learning Russian" instead of comparing Russian to English.
