Artist Tanya Bond has created a coloring book with 24 designs which fit the bill. The young women are generally accompanied by an animal of some sort (including cats, owls, frogs, snails, and many more.) Each of the designs have a title which describes the young woman and sets the stage for coloring.

This is an overview of what I found in the book as well as my experiences with coloring in it:

24 Hand-drawn Fantasy Designs
Printed on one side of thin, white non-perforated paper typical of CreateSpace publications
Designs do not merge into the binding area
Glue Binding
Plenty of room to cut pages out if you choose to do so
Consistent and dark printing
Alcohol and water based markers bleed through the page
Gel pens and India ink pens leave shadows on the back of the page
Coloring pencils work well, good color and blending but hard lead pencils leave dents on the back of the page

I'm having a lot of fun coloring these designs – choosing which colors I like best to give the right mood to the subject. I finished my first two pictures and am busy working on the next one.

Beautiful artwork each one so different and lovely. In the picture you can see how much room the artist gives you to use your imagination. I'm still learning facial coloring techniques as this is a skill you might want with this book. "Beautiful faces, by Jane Davenport" really helps easily and in multiple medium's, guide in the facial coloring techniques. I highly recommend this book, I will be buying the second edition for sure.

I love Tanya's Inklings artwork and was so glad she decided to publish through Amazon with one sided pages. 24 beautiful pictures of the Inkling girls with various animals. Love the variety! I believe the reviewer that states the pictures are on each side is speaking of her original version of this book (which I also have), not the one here on Amazon. I've enclosed a pic of the 1st girl in the book that I've colored. Tons of fun! I'm already waiting on her upcoming new coloring book (Inklings 2)! Updated to add 3rd pic I colored.

This book is an unusual cross between the worlds of adults and children as well as between fantasy and reality, and is though-provoking in the balancing act it creates between those worlds. It does feel very nostalgic, but it's a beautiful kind of nostalgia that transports you back to the days of playing "let's pretend", and, I think, reminds us not to forget them.

On the other hand, the opponents of bilingual education, comprised at different points in time of conservative journalists, politicians, federal bureaucrats, Anglo parent groups, school officials, administrators, and special-interest groups (such as U.S. English), favor assimilationism, the structural exclusion and discrimination of ethnic minorities, and limited school reform. In the 1990s a resurgence of opposition to bilingual education succeeded in repealing bilingual legislation with an English-only piece of legislation. San Miguel deftly provides a history of these clashing groups and how they impacted bilingual educational policy over the years. Rounding out this history is an extensive, annotated bibliography on federal bilingual policy that can be used to enhance further study.

About the Author

Wendell Lim is at the University of California, San Francisco, where he is Professor of Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology. The principal focus of his research is the structure and mechanism of protein interaction domains and the logic by which these components are used to build complex cellular signaling systems.

Bruce Mayer is at the University of Connecticut Health Center, where he is a Professor of Genetics and Developmental Biology. Current work in his group focuses on characterizing and manipulating tyrosine kinase-mediated signal transduction pathways.

Anthony Pawson, deceased, was Senior Investigator and Director of Research in the Department of Medical Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Toronto where his research focused on the molecular dissection and functional significance of protein-protein interactions in signal transduction.

Cell Signaling is an average textbook for upper division undergraduates or beginning graduate students. The book lays a solid foundation in the first few chapters, which deal with the biochemical aspects of protein-protein interactions. By the time the student reaches Chapters 3 on, the information is at the same time repetitive and new. For example, Chapter 3 deals with protein kinases and phosphatases, which is then covered again in chapter 4, which introduces new protein modifications. The information in chapters 3 and 4 lead to a nice discussion on subcellular localization of signaling proteins, with some redundance (reinforcement?) built in. Chapter 6 introduces lipids involved in cell signaling before talking about the membrane lipids in Chapter 7 (for the authors: I would recommend putting the information in 7 before that in 6).

I think the authors try to simplify the concepts of molecular switches using terms like Writer, Eraser and Reader, which my senior undergrads don't seem to appreciate. There are some editing changes that need to be made in the text and the online resources from Garland need a really serious editor (Chapter 6: Small Signaling Medicators instead of Mediators!).

I developed the course and chose the text, but I will be considering other options that have better organization and editing.

Fantastic textbook

The best book on cell signaling (Signal transduction) out there. It cuts through the complexity of molecular pathways by focusing on principles and the modular nature of molecular interactions, while providing deep chemical and evolutionary explanations for why such systems work that way. Rather than feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of detailed information, as in many textbooks on signaling, one comes out with a structured vision of pathways, and a much better understanding of the unifying principles guiding molecular recognition, interaction and assembly. At the same time, it provides detailed information on specific pathways important for development, cancer, immunity etc...Really an amazing book, highly recommended...

Most biology books I read are kinda boring; they just list a bunch of facts which I can hardly remember after reading them. This book, however, is perfect. The arguments are very clear.

Reading the book makes me feel better about biology, especially when I feel a lot things I do in research don't make much sense.
